Man fighting for his life after road crash in east London

A man is fighting for his life after his car was involved in a horrific collision in east London early on Christmas Eve.

The man, thought to have been driving, was taken to hospital after the 5.20am crash in Lodge Avenue, Dagenham.

Firefighters were called to cut him out of the vehicle and police shut the busy road as medics worked on him.

One Twitter user wrote: “Major accident on Lodge Avenue/Porters Avenue. Looks really bad.

“There was blue and white ribbon closing the hill off.”

The collision involved three cars, London Fire Brigade said.
