A Metropolitan Police officer has been sacked after faking an application to have a parking ticket overturned.

PC Christian Ciobanu, from Barnet police, was dismissed after admitting he made a fake entry on a police database in a bid to have a Penalty Charge Notice quashed.

He had been slapped with the fine in May last year.

Following a special case hearing on February 2, Mr Ciobanu was dismissed over gross misconduct.

The Directorate of Professional Standards found that he had broken the force’s standards of professional behaviour due to lack of honesty and integrity and had carried out discreditable conduct.

Mr Cionbanu was dismissed without notice.
