Moment Man United players cower on board team coach as fans shower it with bottles

This was the moment Manchester United players cowered in the aisle of their team coach while West Ham fans pelted it with bottles.

Supporters showered the bus with projectiles as it arrived at the Boleyn Ground for the Hammers’ last ever match in Upton Park before next season’s move to the Olympic Stadium.

Stills from footage captured inside the coach show Man United players including Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Michael Carrick sheltering on the floor while cans and bottles land on the windows.

The expletive-ridden video appears to have been shot by winger Jesse Lingard.

It later emerged on social media before quickly going viral.

At one point a player can be heard shouting “mummy, mummy” in mock hysteria while other stars use their phones to take photos.

Later, Lingard pulls a face to the camera while he poses in front of a damaged window.

Police were forced to hold back West Ham fans while the Man U coach travelled along Green Street in Upton Park, east London.

One officer and a member of the public were injured in the disorder, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The disruption led to the match kick-off being delayed by 45 minutes, with striker Wayne Rooney saying he thought West Ham would be “disappointed” with fans.
