Newham murder victim named as man in 30s is held in custody

Murder detectives have named the victim of a fatal stabbing in Newham as 80-year-old Shotera Bibi.

Police rushed to an address on Landseer Avenue in Manor Park at 9.56am on Saturday and found Ms Bibi with critical injuries.

Despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms Bibi’s family have been informed, and a post-mortem examination will commence on Sunday, April 3.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and remains in police custody.

The arrested man was known to Ms Bibi.

Any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist the investigation are asked to call 101, ref 2126/02apr.
