Nigella Lawson 'has signed exclusive interview deal with Oprah Winfrey'

Lindsay Watling11 December 2013

Nigella Lawson is planning a TV interview with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey, it was suggested at Isleworth crown court today.

The claim came as the TV cook’s top admin assistant Anzelle Wasserman was giving evidence in the fraud trial of former aides Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo.

The sisters are alleged to have spent an unauthorised £685,000 using Charles Saatchi’s company credit card.

They deny fraud and claim Ms Lawson, 53, let them spend wildly as long as they kept quiet about her cocaine use.

Today Karina Arden, representing Francesca, asked Ms Wasserman: “You know don’t you Ms Lawson has signed an exclusive agreement with Oprah Winfrey in January?”

Ms Wasserman replied “that’s not correct” before the line of questioning was shut down by Judge Robin Johnson who said the point should have been put to Ms Lawson.

The case continues.
