A popular east London square is to be transformed with the installation of an office in the trees.

The "co-working space" is to be installed in Hoxton Square, in the heart of London's Tech City, for eight weeks this summer starting in June.

Shoreditch businesses are invited to book up the space, which will be "built in the canopy of a tree".

It will be fully equipped with wi-fi and accommodate up to eight people at a time.

The environmental charity Groundwork has teamed up with Hackney Council to create the unique office environment, which has been dubbed TREExOFFICE.

Hackney councillor Jonathan McShane said: "The innovative design of the ‘tree office’ will provide a space not only where people can work and meet, but also to interact with the natural environment, a vastly different experience from working in a modern office.

"I’m excited to see the people using this space once the project launches early next month."
