Detectives are returning to the scene in Peckham where 21-year-old Ola Raji was murdered in a bid to finally catch his killers.

Officers will mark the six month anniversary since Mr Raji's death by visiting East Surrey Grove on Wednesday to launch a fresh appeal for information and witnesses.

On April 21, officers were called to the street to reports of shots fired before they found Mr Raji on the ground between two parked cars.

He had been shot and stabbed and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at hospital.

Detectives believe he was confronted by two people near a community centre founded in memory of murdered schoolboy Damilola Taylor as he cycled through the estate.

A post-mortem examination ruled he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

I appeal for those people [in the area] to help us by telling us what they know

Detective Chief Inspector Will Reynolds, from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "We hope that our re-appeal will encourage anyone who is yet to speak to us to contact the investigation team.

"Following previous appeals we are aware of a driver and occupants of a silver vehicle which was parked in East Surrey Grove, outside the Damilola Taylor centre, a few minutes after Ola was shot.

"These people may well have vital information which could help us and we would like to speak to them urgently.

"I do understand that some people may not wish to speak directly to police.

"In that event, I urge them to call the independent charity Crimestoppers. The Crimestoppers guarantee of anonymity has never been broken and callers are not even asked for their name.

"Any information that is provided to my officers will be treated in the strictest confidence.

"We know there were a number of people in East Surrey Grove at the time of the murder.

"I appeal for those people to help us by telling us what they know, either in person or anonymously through Crimestoppers. If you know something, please make the call."

Last month Scotland Yard arrested a man for conspiracy to murder.

The 25-year old was taken to Sutton police station and has since been bailed to return on a date later this month.

Also on bail are two men, aged 24 and 21, arrested in connection with this incident and two 20-year-old women arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4205 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
