A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck in south London.

The 51-year-old man became the second motorbike rider to die on London’s roads in under four hours on Saturday.

He was knocked down in Peckham at about 5.30pm and pronounced dead at the scene less than 90 minutes later.

The man collided with the Volkswagen Amarok in Consort Road, close to a bus garage. The pickup truck driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Next of kin have been informed. Formal identification is yet to take place.

"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course."

It happened just hours after another motorcyclist, also in his early 50s, died in Bow.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene just after 3pm after crashing with a bus in Roman Road.

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating both incidents.

Witnesses to either collision are asked to contact police via 101.
