Ludgate Circus crash: Pedestrian, 85, fighting for life after being struck by lorry

An elderly man is fighting for life in hospital after he was hit by a lorry in the City of London.

The pedestrian, 85, was hit by a HGV near Ludgate Circus just before midday on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.47am.

The man was treated for a limb injury and rushed to hospital.

He remains at Royal London Hospital with life-threatening injuries, City of London Police said.

Road closures were in place at Ludgate Hill near the Old Bailey down to Ludgate Circus southbound and Newbridge Street southbound while police investigated the crash.
