The victim, who was aged in her late 50s, was knocked down on Martin Way, Morden, at about 6am today.

Paramedics were called to the scene but she was pronounced dead minutes later, a spokesman for Scotland Yard said.

Her next of kin are in the process of being informed, he added.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

The road was closed between Westcroft Gardens and Cannon Hill Lane while police investigated.
