Piccadilly Line suspended between Hammersmith and Kings Cross after person hit by train at Piccadilly Circus

Part of the Piccadilly Line was suspended this evening after a person was hit by a train at Piccadilly Circus.

Trains were cancelled eastbound between Hammersmith and Kings Cross and there were severe delays on the rest of the line.

Police and ambulance crews were called to reports of a person on the track at about 9pm.

Bakerloo Line trains were also not stopping at Piccadilly Circus station following the incident.

A Transport for London spokesman said its staff were working with the emergency services to resume a normal service on the line "as soon as possible".

The incident reportedly caused traffic to build up in Regent Street at the junction with the station.
