London department store Selfridges opened its biggest ever Christmas shop this week.

The store's owners say they "pulled out all the stops" this year to create the shop, which opened on Monday.

The festive boutique is open in a brand new part of the store - a lower level called the Ultralounge.

The shop's designers added a special Christmas aroma of ginger and marzipan to the air - as well as the smell of fresh pine.

There will be 28 different types of Christmas tree on sale, as well as 85,000 decorations, 6,000 crackers - plus gifts from around the world, like Buddhas and Geishas, Hanukkah candles, Ganesh and Russian Dolls.

Sales staff are predicting one of the best sellers will be the Union Jack bauble. Also tipped to sell well is the ‘Fashion Tree’, a Twig tree which will "offer a chic and minimal look," according to staff.

Selfridges was this year voted The Best Department Store in the World for the second time at the Global Department Store Summit in Paris.
