A “rarely available” garage offering motorists an off-street parking space in one of London’s most exclusive areas is expected to fetch more than £180,000 at auction.

The freehold for the 146 sq ft unit in Crescent Place, Chelsea, has been given the staggering guide price for when it goes under the hammer on Tuesday, February 16.

The single storey garage comes with an electric door and a front security bollard and is situated close to Harrods.

Interested buyers are promised easy access to the A4 with good links into the West End as well as the M4 and M25 motorways.

A listing on the Savills Auction website reads: “Rarely available. A garage offering secure off-street parking in one of London’s most desirable and fashionable locations just off Brompton Road.”

Chris Coleman-Smith, head of Savills auctions comments: “Garages are an increasingly rare commodity in central London, where even some of the highest value properties lack off-street parking.

"For local residents who have invested in cars as well as their homes, the chance to purchase a secure and conveniently located garage simply can’t be missed.

“The lot we’re selling at Crescent Place benefits from a sought after position close to South Kensington tube station and a number of London’s top attractions, including The Natural History, V&A and Science Museums as well as the Royal Albert Hall.

"This also gives it great potential to be rented out if not in use.”

In February 2014, an underground parking space near the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington went on sale for £400,000.

Britain’s most expensive parking place has gone on sale for £400,000 — or nearly two and half times the average UK house price.

The space, which can fit two cars, was equivalent to nearly two and half times the average UK house price at the time of its sale.
