Revealed: the truth behind the 'cheater's' spray painted Range Rover left outside Harrods

The truth behind the luxury car that was left outside Harrods daubed with the word "cheater" has been revealed.

Pictures of the brand new £90,000 white Range Rover were shared all over the world after it was left outside the luxury department store early this month sprayed with graffiti from a "spurned lover".

The car had been branded with the words "Cheater, it's over" and "Hope she was worth it!" in huge red letters before being parked outside the Knightsbridge store.

At the time it was suggested the move could have been a publicity stunt - and this has now been confirmed after a luxury auto design and enhancement workshop confirmed it had painted the car in an advertising stunt for the new Revere Range Rover Vogue.

A video posted to YouTube shows a member of R-Tec Auto Design's team say: "fake cheater, take one" before spraying the car with paint in the company's design shop.

The film then shows the car travelling through the capital before it is parked up outside Harrods in Basil Street.

The film also includes secret dash cam footage taken from inside the car, which shows hundreds of people looking and taking pictures throughout the day.

At the time hundreds of people posted on social media, apparently taken in by the stunt.

One woman wrote: "Oh my, that's one way to get back at him...! Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

However, not everyone was convinced.

At the time, one doorman at Harrods told the Standard: "A young bloke got out the car, went for a cup of tea and then left again.

"I think it was a hoax to be honest. Everybody has been talking about it and there were lots of people crowding around and taking photographs of it."

Revere London said it had released the video after "false rumours" circulated about who was claiming to be behind the stunt.
