Seven people taken to hospital after bus and van crash in east London

Seven people were taken to hospital after a bus and van collided in east London.

Police, paramedics and London Fire Brigade were called to Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, at 6.33am on Wednesday after reports of a road traffic collision.

London Ambulance Service said it declared a “significant incident” and four ambulances, an officer , emergency officer, London’s Air Ambulance and the hazardous area response team (HART) were sent to the scene.

A total of 12 people were treated by paramedics at the scene and seven patients were taken to three London hospitals, with one taken as a priority.

A further five patients were discharged at the scene by paramedics.

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said the van driver was said to be among those taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made.

Lee Bridge Road was closed while emergency services attended but reopened at 10.45am.
