Shepherd’s Bush hit and run: Man arrested on suspicion of injuring 13-year-old Saboor Gul

A man has been arrested after a teenager was placed into a coma following a suspected hit-and-run in west London.

Saboor Gul, 13, was taken to hospital with head injuries after a collision in Bulwer Street, Shepherd’s Bush on Saturday, October 17.

His condition is described as non-life threatening but he was placed into an induced coma and his family remain at his bedside.

His father, Ghafoor Gul, issued an emotional plea for information and today a man was arrested after attending a west London police station.

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said: “A 36-year-old man attended a west London police station today by appointment where he was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

“He is currently in custody.”

Saboor was on his way to a study session at Westfield London when he was hit by a light green Ford Focus at about 1.40pm.

Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene and the car was later founded abandoned in India Way.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating and are continuing to appeal for information.
