If you were lucky enough to be on the Tube at the right time yesterday you could have held your own knobbly knees competition because it was the 12th annual No Pants Day on the Tube.

The no-trousers movement started as a prank in 2002 in New York but has since become a global phenomenon, with cities including Shanghai, Mexico City and Sydney taking part this year.

Organisers said the only two requirements for participating were a willingness to ride without trousers and the ability “to keep a straight face about it”.
