A house narrower than a Tube carriage has become the thinnest home outside Zone One to come on the London market with a £1 million price tag.
The “Slim House” in Battersea is 7ft 7in wide at the front and is one of only a handful of its size in the capital.
The three-storey home — originally an access route to stables before being built over — has featured regularly in TV property shows, including architect George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
It was extended in 2013 by London architect Alma-nac to add an extra room on each level at a cost of £90,000. It now has two reception rooms on the ground floor with a kitchen breakfast room leading to a 48ft garden.
On the first floor it has two bedrooms, a shower room and a dressing room. There are two further bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor, with a loft above.
The owner, advertising executive Aimee Luther, paid £837,500 for it in 2014.
She said: “This house has a slice of everything but on a slightly slimmer scale. I have loved living in a fabulous part of SW11 in the heart of a friendly neighbourhood and I’ve no doubt that the next owner will have equal pride in owning this piece of architectural brilliance.”
The narrowest house in London is believed to be a five-storey property in Shepherd’s Bush which is 5ft 5in wide. In 2016 a two-bedroom home in Kensington measuring 7ft 3in wide went on the market for £1.25 million.
Jasper Colliver, head of the Wandsworth branch of agent Savills, which is handling the sale, said: “Its unique proportions make the ‘Slim House’ a really rare find. The property has been cleverly designed with well-placed storage and bespoke fittings to maximise the 1,058 square feet of living accommodation.”
