Car crashes with lorry and veers into railings

This dramatic picture shows the aftermath of a crash in which a car hit a lorry and became wedged on railings at the side of the road.

The driver was taken to hospital after the crash at the junction of Stafford Road and Woodcote Road, in Wallington, south London, at 9.20am this morning.

The lorry driver was treated at the scene.

Police described the car driver’s injuries as not serious.

Witnesses said there was a heavy police presence following the accident.

The affected roads were temporarily closed affecting traffic travelling into London, but have since re-opened.
