A small child has been seriously injured after being struck by a van in a crash in south-east London.

The girl, six, was rushed to hospital following the collision in Silex Street, Southwark, on Monday.

She remained in hospital in a serious condition this evening. Her parents have been informed.

Police were called to the scene at about 11.50am.

The van driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

A crime scene was put in place while officers continued to investigate. It has since been removed.

An air ambulance was spotted landing nearby, but it was not immediately clear if it was called to the same incident.
