Staff at Polish centre hit by ‘racist’ graffiti attack invited to QPR game

QPR players support the #LondonIsOpen campaign

Staff at a Polish community centre daubed with graffiti after the Brexit vote have been invited to attend the first match of the season at nearby Queens Park Rangers in a gesture of solidarity.

Joanna Mludzinska, chair of the Polish Social & Cultural Association in Hammersmith, nine staff and deputy Polish Ambassador Dariusz Łaska will be guests at Sunday’s clash with Leeds.

Police are treating the incident at the building on King Street three days after the vote as racially motivated although there have been suggestions it may have been aimed at a Polish think-tank.

QPR co-chairman Tony Fernandes said: “We’re delighted to welcome supporters of all nationalities as we kick off this season, and for the chance to show our solidarity with the Polish community.

As part of our support of the #LondonIsOpen campaign, we want to make clear wherever you’re from, our club and our capital are open to all.”

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “It’s fantastic to see QPR opening its arms to the Polish community.”
