Standard critic’s £60,000 gift

Lynda’s legacy: writer Murdin died of cancer
29 March 2012

Former Evening Standard royal correspondent, theatre critic and arts reporter Lynda Murdin, who died of ovarian cancer aged 61, was remembered with a cheque for £60,000 for a cardiac charity.

The bequest by Murdin followed the death from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome of her 16-year-old goddaughter Emma Wylie.

Former colleagues took part in the presentation to SADS UK at the Standard’s offices in Kensington.

Olympic swimmer Duncan Goodhew has appealed for funds for the charity to buy portable defibrillators.
