Standard’s Anthony Hilton wins London Press Club award

Evening Standard columnist Anthony Hilton has won The London Press Club’s prestigious Edgar Wallace Trophy for writing of the highest quality.

Hilton, pictured with awards host Kate Silverton at the event in Whitehall, was cited for his incisive and accessible reporting and commentary on business and City news.

The judges said: “His pedigree among financial writers is second to none.” The former editor of the Standard’s City pages has worked in journalism for almost 50 years.

Sarah Sands, who left her role as editor of the Standard this week, was shortlisted for Print Journalist of the Year.
