A man has been rushed to hospital with critical head injuries after Storm Doris gales blew debris off a building onto the street in Victoria.

The pedestrian was left with life-threatening injuries after the incident on Victoria Street – next to Victoria Underground station.

Some eyewitnesses are reporting that he was hit by a part of the roof that was blown off a newly-built section of the station.

Pictures show the roads closed off as gales continue to batter police and emergency crews at the scene.

One witness commented: "Firemen use cement bags to hold bits of roof. They just opened this b***** entance and it's already falling apart."

And other said there were "pieces of metal and shards of glass" being blown around the area.
