A pair of best friends who struggled to find love on Tinder have launched a new app where Londoners can hunt for perfect dates rather than potential suitors.

Chrissy Rigby, 31, and Danni Menzies, 29, created Pitchit following several unsatisfactory dates.

The free app, available on iOS from early March, allows singles to suggest and accept date ideas rather than focus solely on a match’s looks and online persona.

Miss Menzies, from Parsons Green and who presents Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun, told the Standard: “We were having no luck on Tinder or any of those apps - you pick someone based on their profile and you chat but then you meet and it doesn't work out.

"With this you can suggest something you want to do and meet someone with similar interests. If you have a ticket to a gig, or you want to go on a dog walk, you can suggest it and see which matches respond.

“You then select a short-list of three potential dates and have 24-hours to chat to them before deciding who to date and who to dump.”

The duo first began planning the app after chatting to single friends about bad dates but only put their plan into action when Miss Rigby, a personal trainer who lives in Putney, broke her leg.

Aptly, she was injured in an “enthusiastic” attempt to catch a bouquet at a friend’s wedding.

Friends who met via apps

Her business partner added: “It was only when Danni couldn’t work that we decided to go for it and really though it through.

“We’ve not done anything like this before so we had to enlist friends and friends of friends who knew what they were doing.”

The app also offers date inspiration which allows hopeful romantics to select events across the UK to invite new partners to.

Following a soft launch, Pitchit will be available for iPhone in early March and on Android later this year.
