Croydon is to get its strongest boost since it was ravaged by riots two years ago when Britain’s biggest designer outlet store opens there this week.

Designer brands such as Armani, Gaultier and Gucci will be on sale with discounts of 35 to 75 per cent on high street prices.

The 500,000 sq ft Croydon Village outlet will be launched on Thursday by former The Only Way Is Essex star Harry Derbridge, pictured, along with his clothing label Harry’s World. It will employ more than 500 staff in the former Allders store in the town centre. It is being backed by entreprener Marco Cash who wants to create a “Harrods of the South-East”.

It will be almost three times the size of Bicester Village.
