Three days of good weather... now London is braced for downpours

14 May 2012

London is bracing itself for heavy downpours this week after a three-day respite from bad weather.

Forecasters are warning that showers will hit most of the country for much of the week ahead.

A Met Office spokeswoman said: "The outlook is generally rain and more rain for the foreseeable future.

"There will be brisk winds, thunderstorms and chillier temperatures for most of the country throughout the week, followed by another wet weekend."

Rain and strong winds are expected to make their way to the south of Britain by midday today.

Poor weather conditions are set to last until mid-June and could impact on the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
