Television presenter Trinny Woodall was today said to be devastated after the sudden death of her ex-husband.

Johnny Elichaoff, 55, was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning at 9.30am.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the death of the former drummer turned financial adviser was being treated as non-suspicious and that next of kin have been informed.

Mr Elichaoff was married to Ms Woodall for 10 years and was father of the fashion stylist’s 11-year-old daughter, Lyla. He also leaves behind a son Zak, 21, from his first marriage to Camilla St. Aubyn.

The couple remained close following their divorce in 2009 despite Ms Woodall’s new relationship with Charles Saatchi.

The What Not to Wear presenter is reported to be “grief-stricken” by her former husband’s death. Mr Elichaoff’s family were too upset to comment when approached by the Standard.

Mr Elichaoff had spoken of his battling an addiction to prescription painkillers after he developed after undergoing 20 operations after breaking his leg in a motorbike accident in 2006. He was later admitted to a Californian rehab clinic in October that year.

Mr Elichaoff started his career supporting U2 and Siouxsie Sioux. Under his stage name Johnny Too Bad, he played in 70s band Stark Naked And The Car Thieves before joining Baby And The Black Spots and then playing in guitarist Robert Fripp’s League Of Gentlemen.

The musician went on to help manage rock bands Tears For Fears and Fairground Attraction, but later had a change of career and became a financial adviser.

He appeared regularly on Channel 4’s Four Rooms in which members of the public try to sell their art and collectibles to a panel of professional dealers, of which Mr Elichaoff was one.

He married Ms Woodall in 1999 at St Columba’s church in Knightsbridge where Miss Woodall was christened, her parents had married and her grandfather was buried.

Friends said the marriage came under strain had broken because of Ms Woodall’s busy work schedule and his dependence on painkillers.

Ms Woodall also had her own battle with substance and alcohol abuse in the past. The couple had both spoken openly about their troubles.

An inquest is due to open at Westminster Coroner’s Court.
