A troupe of all-male lemurs have arrived at London Zoo and are settling into their new custom-built home.

The primates were welcomed by zoo keepers into their new home this morning with treats such as bamboo canes, sultanas and lettuce stalks.

In these images the inquisitive primates can be seen prowling around their enclosure searching for the snacks.

Visitors will be able to get closer than ever before to the creatures when the In with the Lemurs enclosure opens to the public.

Ring-tail lemurs, originally from Madagascar, are classified as endangered and face extensive habitat loss from logging as well as hunting.

Zoo visitors will be given an insight into the extent of threats the species face through a replica timber mill, highlighting the devastating effect logging has on their wild habitat.
