CEOs are often portrayed as cold tyrants who sit in their ivory towers counting profits and making redundancies.

That’s clearly not the case at London-based fashion firm Net-a-Porter, where employees seem to love head honcho Mark Sebba.

Sebba announced his retirement earlier this week after 11 years in charge of the online fashion retailer which has been valued at £350 million.

Yesterday the CEO, who has transformed the company into a major player in the online fashion industry, arrived at the firm’s London HQ for a regular day at the office, completely unaware of what his staff had planned for him.

As he entered the office Sebba was welcome by a gospel preacher, net ball team and his whole London staff lining the corridors with placards of his face and name.

While they clapped along and patted him on the back, the singer performed a rendition of Aloe Blacc’s hit single The Man.

What a tribute: staff line the corridors to welcome their boss to the office

Sebba was also greeted by a video link showing his employees from offices in Manhattan, New Jersey, Hong Kong and Shanghai cheering him along.

Clearly touched, the boss knew when to call an end to the celebrations, saying: “Thank you very much everybody, I’m a bit overwhelmed, but… how about get back to work!”
