Vodka ‘won’t give you hangover’ … but price might

A vodka maker is hoping to entice wealthy Londoners with its £115 bottle of vodka that they claim does not give drinkers a hangover.

Beluga Noble, the best-selling “super-premium” vodka in Russia, has been launched in London with deals for it to be sold in bars, restaurants and upmarket stores.

Beluga claims its 30-day maturation process, which it says is more common for whiskies and wines, and the use of “artesian water” from Siberian springs result in a “smooth and silky” finish. This, they say, means drinkers can sip it neat, down it in shots, or enjoy it in cocktails without suffering a hangover the next day.

The vodka will be sold in Harrods, Selfridges and the Bulgari Hotel. Restaurant L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon has created a special menu to accompany the vodka.

Best-served with caviar, it sells in shops for £36 but its “premium” Beluga Gold Line version — which it matures for 90 days — retails for £115 a bottle. The price in clubs, bars and restaurants is even higher.

Beluga has 87 per cent share of the vodka market in Russia and is already popular with Russians living in London. Brand spokesman Grigory Maslennikov said the capital was a key market as it is recognised as a trend-setter worldwide. As part of the early launch in the UK, the group sponsored Royal Ascot.
