Dozens of firefighters tackled a blaze which destroyed part of an east London doctor's surgery today.

Photos from the scene show smoke billowing from the roof and top floor of the Walthamstow medical surgery following the fire at just after 3pm today.

Firefighters rushed to the scene, on Claremont Road, and spent hours tackling the blaze at the NHS Claremont medical centre.

Crews used jets and elevating platforms to pour water on the fire from above.
