A woman was cut out of her car and taken to hospital after a crash in south London this evening.

The smash, which the fire brigade said involved three cars, happened in Artillery Place, Woolwich, at about 6.30pm.

Ambulance staff took the woman, believed to be about 50, to hospital after she had been rescued from the car by firefighters. Police told the Standard she was the driver of one car.

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Twitter user Danielle (@x_Danii_xox) said she had witnessed the aftermath. "Someone was getting cut out by the looks of things," she tweeted, adding: "Buses and traffic stuck."
