Woman dies after being hit by car on busy road in Finchley

Police are hunting for witnesses after a woman was killed in a crash in north London in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The pedestrian, aged 38, was hit by a car on Great North Way in Finchley at around 4.20am.

Police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene, near the junction with Highview Gardens, but she was pronounced dead.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed although police are still awaiting formal identification.

The driver of the car, a silver Toyota Avensis, stopped at the scene and was not arrested, police said.
