A Woodford Green teacher is set to complete his sixth marathon in just twelve months as he takes on the Tokyo race this weekend.
Alan Mair, 51, will join a handful of people who have run the six World Marathon Majors in a year, having only returned to running after his 50th birthday.
Mr Mair has already raced in London, Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York and raised over £1000. Funds will be donated to international aid agency CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) and the Brentford Catholic Children’s Society.
The Head of Religious Studies at Trinity Catholic School in Woodford Green said: “CAFOD does fantastic work transforming lives around the world, and BCCS carries out a great service locally providing counselling for children and young people. I’m feeling great about the Tokyo Marathon, at the end of what has been an amazing year of races.”
Money raised will go towards CAFOD’s Lent Appeal which supports communities in over 40 countries who are living in poverty or affected by natural disasters. Donations made between February 18 and May 17 will be matched by the UK government up to the value of £5million,
