All change as Mishal Husain gets set for Today

Cometh the hour, cometh the woman. My spies tell me Mishal Husain is joining the chattering team on the Today programme on Monday, October 7, although the BBC has decided not to announce this. So that will be the end of Jim Naughtie, who will stay in Scotland, the land of his birth, allegedly to cover the independence campaign. Husain, by joining Sarah Montague, will bring the female quota to two. But Naughtie will reduce the Scottish count, leaving John Humphrys to represent Wales. There is speculation that Nick Robinson, the BBC’s political editor, will be brought in after the next general election. Don’t rule out his deputy James Landale as his successor.
