Beware - the Bard's 400th birthday is not far off

Ed Vaizey, the culture minister, already has April 23, 2016, ringed in his diary. “The DCMS does not yet have any specific plans to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death but 2016 provides an opportunity for many organisations, independent of government, to organise their own celebrations if they wish to,” he told MPs. Perhaps the occasion of the Bard’s passing might be “marked” rather than a cause for widespread celebration?
