“The glass ceiling has been shattered,” came the word from Paris. Was this commonly held sentiment a reaction to the election of the city’s first female mayor, the Socialist candidate Anne Hidalgo? Er, no. It was uttered by Marine Le Pen, leader of the anti-immigration Front National, which won big in local elections in France.
