Christopher’s family treat

22 July 2013

Three years after he bought Christopher’s in Covent Garden from Christopher Gilmour, Old Harrovian businessman Ambar Paul celebrated with a party for family and friends in the Martini Bar.

“My daughter Anika who now runs the restaurant was at Cambridge at the time,” he told me. “My father and mother and parents-in-law, my son Akhil and cousins are all here to see the refurbishments.”

Ambar’s father Swraj, Lord Paul, said he used to go to Christopher’s long before his son bought it. “I was a friend of Christopher’s father Sir Ian Gilmour when he was Defence Secretary and later in the House of Lords. I sent my sons to Harrow because Churchill and Nehru went there.”

Good to see the old-boy network still operating.
