The Cambridge professor and TV star is today named The Oldie magazine’s Pin-up of the Year, as the Londoner has long proclaimed her. “She has triumphed over adversity, battling against rude comments from AA Gill, suffering internet abuse after her appearance on Question Time,” say the judges.

Lord Hezza, 80 next month, wins for attacking David Cameron’s planned referendum on Europe as “an unnecessary gamble”. “Devolving £50bn to boost growth and the regions in 2012 established Heseltine as a political comeback kid,” says The Oldie. Cynics observe he was educated at Shrewsbury and Oxford, like editor Richard Ingrams.
