Crossbreed, a famed queer fetish night in east London, is permanently closing according to its Instagram page. Late last night a post by founder Alex Warren thanked “everyone who worked with us and everyone who danced” and said tickets would be refunded. Crossbreed’s Instagram page has since been deleted.

Earlier this month there were signs of internal tension at the brand when unnamed staff attacked Warren via the Instagram page. Warren appears to have wrestled back control of the brand’s social media channels in order to announce the closure of the business.

Crossbreed has been troubled for some time. In the summer, we reported on its dispute with Tower Hamlets council which complained about nudity.

At The Oldie of the Year awards this week, host Gyles Brandreth recalled a tense phone call with Dame Judi Dench during the platinum jubilee.

The morning after the Queen’s performance with Paddington Bear was broadcast, Dame Judi said: “Did you see the Queen last night? She was marvellous, far too good! She’s going to be getting all of my work!”

I’m in the band!

What is veteran TV producer John Lloyd (Blackadder, Spitting Image, QI, etc) up to these days? At 71, he’s taken a sharp left turn into the music business, managing son Harry’s band Waiting For Smith.

For the sake of credibility, Lloyd goes by the 70s electronica soubriquet ‘Brian Ego’ and his main job is enforcing the band’s rider (crisps, mainly). Their new EP, Trying Not To Try, is out today.

Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy was spotted huddling over a cup of coffee this week with none other than Tory MP Steve Baker. Last month he was briefly suspended from work for calling the self-styled “Brexit hardman” a “****” live on air.

On Wednesday the pair were seen at Portcullis House in Westminster locked in amiable conversation. Was it a case of kiss-and-make-up?

Further west in Chelsea, 007 actor Lashana Lynch and model Suki Waterhouse were at a launch event for the Bulgari Serpenti Metamorphosis immersive experience exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery.
