Is Paddy Ashdown’s star on the wane? At a 5x15 talk at the Tabernacle last night the former Lib-Dem leader explained a recent run-in with an unsure fan.

“I was going through Waterloo station not long ago and a man came up to me,” he recalled, ‘and he said ‘didn’t you used to be Paddy Ashdown?’ I said I thought I had been at some point or another, but the fact that I was invited to speak tonight seems to indicate that I am, which is jolly reassuring for me.”
