Who would you rather be, a princess or a Goonie?

At yesterday’s live orchestra screening of the The Little Mermaid at the Royal Albert Hall, held in honour of the new Diamond Blu-ray edition of the film, the Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman admitted that, while she is a great fan of Disney heroines, she had always wanted to be a Goonie rather than a pretty, twirling damsel.

“I was a real tomboy — there wasn’t an ounce of pink within a hundred yards of me,” said Bowman, who is the mother of two young boys. “One of the great things about having kids is that you get to relive your childhood again — not that you need an excuse to watch The Goonies.”
