Is this asking for trouble? Pippa Middleton’s lawyers were not amused by the publication of a Pippa’s Tips spoof pregnancy book, which parodies her party-planning book Celebrate and offers satirical advice on parenting.

Now Oneworld has announced it is bringing out a spoof book on the same day as Helen Fielding’s new Bridget Jones title Mad About the Boy in October.

The book, Bridget and Joan’s Diary, tells the story of Bridget and Joan, who live in the Second Best Exotic Magnolia Retirement Home and share a diary along with “80 years of history and way too much information”.

A publishing spokesman says: “This year’s hit from the creator of Fifty Sheds of Grey is a warm and witty account of two elderly ladies joined at the artificial hip.”

Let’s hope Helen Fielding sees the funny side.
