Gentlewomen of all ages celebrate at the Café Royal

To the Café Royal for a wild party for the new edition of The Gentlewoman magazine, with hipsters dancing to tunes spun by Swedish synth-pop star Robyn.

It’s the 10th edition of the highbrow magazine, which has featured designer Phoebe Philo, model Christy Turlington and singers Adele and Beyoncé on the covers over the years. Robyn — the Nordic Kylie for her re-inventions — graces the cover this time.

But youth is not always the marker of success. “The biggest issue we had was when we put Angela Lansbury on the cover,” says editor-in-chief Penny Martin.

“It says such a lot, putting an 88-year-old on the cover, looking sexy.”
