George Osborne called to the bar

As the Tory Party tries to rebrand itself the workers’ party, George Osborne went behind a bar to pull pints last night. Except it wasn’t any old pub: it was the Red Lion in Whitehall, the politicos’ watering hole, which has had a refurb.

George is too busy putting pennies on pints to visit The Red Lion regularly. “My cat Freya comes more often than me,” he said. And has it become any more working-class? Er, no. The big change has been the addition of some chandeliers.
