Growing up in J M Barrie’s house

Art and life intergenerationally intertwined this week at the launch of Louisa Young’s latest book The Heroes’ Welcome — her sequel to the bestselling My Dear, I Wanted to Tell You. Young, who grew up in J M Barrie’s house by Hyde Park, hosted the party at Soho’s Kettner’s — both club and house make star appearances in her new post-First World War novel.

Also at the party was Young’s nephew, the actor Tomislav English, who spent his childhood in Barrie’s former residence. English has just been cast in Joe Wright’s film adaptation of Barrie’s most famous work, Peter Pan. “There’s definitely an atmosphere of creation in the house,” laughed English.
