Promotions are like buses for James Dingemans. The QC whose quizzing of Tony Blair made him the best thing about the Hutton Inquiry is to become a Justice of the High Court, it was announced in today’s Telegraph.

He has also been appointed as the RFU’s Head of Rugby Judiciary. “I accept I’m too old to play rugby,” he admitted, “but I’m thrilled to be able to continue my involvement with the game.” One hopes there’ll be a few complimentary tickets to compensate him for the unpaid position.
