Ten years ago, Janina Wolkow was at the vanguard of the new wave of Russians in London, opening the Sumosan sushi restaurant in Mayfair when Chelsea FC was just a twinkle in Roman Abramovich’s eye. A decade later, Sumosan is going strong and held an anniversary party attended by some well-heeled Russians and celebrities including Frances Ruffelle, star of Les Misérables, with her son Felix Manley, above. Her daughter, the singer Eliza Doolittle, was unable to attend as she is gearing up for the festival season. Meanwhile, Wolkow’s trailblazing restaurant has paid off. It is now the official caterer for Chelsea FC.
