What happens to the ex-WAGs of pop stars? One seems to be standing as an MEP. On Primrose Hill on Friday lunchtime, Noel Gallagher’s ex-wife, Meg Mathews, was wearing a pink rosette and was out on the stump.

Mathews is standing for the Animal Welfare Party, and she told The Londoner that she made a career change after having what she describes as a “middle-age crisis”.

“I was designing scarves for Liberty, I was designing furniture, I was doing interiors — but nothing was fulfilling me. I couldn’t understand why.” Who knew that a desire to enter the European Parliament could fill the emptiness of the soul?
